The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS), in collaboration with Dr. Besjon Zenelaj, Faculty Representative at the Permanent Commission on Student Relations, held the workshop “Advising with Impact: Tools for Supporting Student Success”. 

 

The audience was composed of academic and administrative staff members of FEAS, who gathered to discuss the vital role of advising in improving the student experience. Participants explored the diverse roles of advisors, emphasizing academic guidance, career counseling, and personal support. The importance of establishing trusting relationships between advisors and students was highlighted, enabling open communication and enhanced support. 

 

Discussions underscored how effective advising contributes to higher student retention rates and overall academic success, while various approaches to ensure that advising is responsive to the divers needs of students were examined. Attendees identified common challenges in understanding students and explored collaborative advising as a pathway to excellence. The workshop also reviewed available campus resources, including academic tutoring, mental health services, and career counseling, as well as tools for assessing students’ academic and personal needs. 

 

Participants discussed current problems students face and their communication styles to enhance advising effectiveness and considered the creation of a comprehensive map of advising services to improve accessibility and awareness among students. Overall, the workshop highlighted the essential role of effective advisership in promoting student success at EPOKA University. 

 

The “Advising with Impact: Tools for Supporting Student Success” workshop marked an important step in enhancing the student experience at EPOKA University. By fostering collaboration among faculty and administrative staff, the event aimed to strengthen the support systems available to students, ensuring they receive the guidance they need to thrive academically and personally. 

At the conclusion of the session, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alba Kruja, emphasized the university's commitment to prioritizing effective advising. She stated that initiatives like this workshop are essential for fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, ultimately empowering every student on their journey to success at EPOKA University.
