EPOKA University Participates in the National HERE Seminar on “Internationalization at Home: Challenges and Opportunities for Higher Education in Albania"
EPOKA University participated in the National HERE (Higher Education Reform Experts) Seminar titled “Internationalization at Home: Challenges and Opportunities for Higher Education in Albania,” held on 23–24 April 2025 at the Polytechnic University of Tirana. The event was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in Albania and brought together experts, policymakers, and university representatives to discuss institutional and national strategies to advance the internationalization of higher education in Albania.
The highlight of the event was the presence and contributions of Prof. Hans de Wit, Distinguished Fellow at the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College, USA, and one of the world’s leading voices in international higher education. Throughout the two-day seminar, Prof. de Wit led a series of keynote presentations and interactive sessions, including:
• Critical Reflections on Internationalization Strategies
• International Mobility of Students and Staff
• Internationalization of Research and Partnerships
• Curriculum Internationalization at Home as a Transformational Tool
Prof. de Wit also co-moderated working group discussions and SWOT analysis sessions alongside Dr. Elton Skendaj (HERE Albania), helping identify key policy recommendations and institutional actions tailored to Albania’s higher education context.
EPOKA University’s participation in this event reflects its ongoing commitment to inclusive, globally oriented academic practices and its active role in advancing the internationalization of higher education in Albania.
