Dr. Chrysanthi Balomenou, Lecturer at the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) at EPOKA University, recently participated in the National Olympiad in Economics hosted by the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti, Romania.
The event, held on May 30th, 2025, brought together students, faculty, and professionals in a dynamic and academically rich setting. Dr. Balomenou was invited by Professor Mirela Panait, Ph.D., and expressed her deep gratitude for the warm hospitality and inspiring experience provided by the organizing institution.
The Olympiad featured a wide range of student presentations at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, followed by evaluations and an awards ceremony that celebrated academic excellence and innovation. In addition to these academic activities, the event was enriched by industry collaboration, offering participants an exceptional opportunity to connect theory with practice.
Dr. Balomenou took part in joint activities with both the commercial and central banking sectors. These included the official opening of a Digital Branch of BRD Groupe Société Générale and HUB Bank on the university campus, as well as a study visit to the Ploieşti Branch of the National Bank of Romania. The visit concluded with a compelling and insightful presentation delivered by a senior executive of the Bank, which sparked great interest and engagement among students and faculty alike.
Beyond the formal program, Dr. Balomenou engaged in meaningful discussions with Professor Panait and her team, particularly with Professor Dr. Ştefan Jacob. These conversations laid the groundwork for potential collaborations in teaching, research, joint publications, and scientific cooperation under the Erasmus+ framework.
EPOKA University is proud of Dr. Balomenou's active engagement in international academic events and congratulates her for representing the institution with distinction. We look forward to further strengthening our academic ties with the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti and fostering continued collaboration in the field of economics and finance.
