On 20th January, the Department of Banking and Finance organised an open lecture entitled "The perspective of capital markets in Albania and the role of financial education" . The lecture was delivered by two guests: Mr. Kliton Vaso, Banking Expert at Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung and Mr. Blodin Cuci, Financial Market Expert and former president of Albanian Stock Trading Association. The guests share a notable background and are well-known for their contribution in their fields of expertise.
The lecture was a valuable contribution in the curricula offered by the Banking and Finance program, as it aims to strengthen financial education and literacy as an important tool to achieve profits in the capital market. Mr. Cuci provided to the participants a wider comprehension of financial instruments beyond the standard treatment of bonds and equities and explained the economic rationale for financial instruments and markets. The presentation generated interest to the students that want to work in the field of investments, showing a practical and realistic approach of capital markets globally. The lecture turned into an interactive discussion of questions and answers on how to 'read' capital market signals, in order to identify possible mispricing and misuse of financial instruments and how to use it in investment decisions in the long-run.
Mr. Vaso emphasised that financial education is the primary focus of German Sparkassenstiftung’s work in Albania, and presented the opportunities of joint projects that the students can be engaged in.
