On January 17, 2024, the Center for European Studies in collaboration with Department of Political Science and International Relations at EPOKA University, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module Project “EU Integration of the Western Balkans: Patterns and Issues”. organized the 3rd Graduate Seminar. The seminar was delivered by the guest lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Islam Jusufi, former professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at EPOKA University, and currently appointed as alternate of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government in the Council of Europe. Assoc. Prof. Jusufi discussed the democratization challenges of three Western Balkans countries such as Albania, Kosovo and Serbia, throughout their EU integration process focusing on democratization and de-democratization trends and dynamics. He elaborated on the role of Western and non-Western donors in the region in countries’ de/democratization trajectories.
