We are proud to announce that Xhoena Duro (Polisi) has successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Biomaterial Toxicity Assessment Using Non-Invasive Microscopy and AI-Driven Cell Morphology Analysis.” Her defense was met with great success and evaluated with the highest grade AA.
Her research was carried out under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arban Uka and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Karras as co-supervisor. Xhoena’s thesis was conducted as part of the Panbiora Project, a Horizon 2020-funded initiative, and involved extensive collaboration with 16 other partner institutions across Europe, including universities and leading research centers. Her work that led to several publications, explored innovative approaches in the field of biomedical research, combining cutting-edge non-invasive microscopy techniques with artificial intelligence-based analysis to assess biomaterial toxicity through cell morphology—a novel contribution to the intersection of bioengineering and computational science.
The PhD defense took place before an esteemed jury composed of:
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Xhoena Duro (Polisi) for this significant achievement and wish her continued success in her academic and professional endeavors.
