Dr. Begmyrat Kulmedov, in collaboration with Lucy Akaiku Achobe, has co-authored an article titled "Modeling Water Age and Chlorine Reduction Effects on Water Quality in the Distribution Network of the Lower Usuma Dam Using EPANET" published in Water Resources Management on December 26, 2024.
The study used EPANET software to model the impact of water age and chlorine reduction on the quality of water distributed through the Lower Usuma Dam network. Data from 11 sample locations were analyzed for chlorine levels, pH, turbidity, and microbial contamination. Results revealed that chlorine levels dropped below World Health Organization (WHO) standards within three days, emphasizing the need for ongoing treatment and monitoring.
This research offers critical insights for optimizing water treatment processes and ensuring safe drinking water distribution in urban networks.
