On October 15-16, 2025, Dr. Alba Gerdeci, Lecturer in the Department of Law at EPOKA University, had the privilege of presenting at the READ International Scientific Conference 2025 – First Edition, organized by the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) in collaboration with the University of Tirana and the University of Richmond (USA).
Dr. Gerdeci’s presentation, “Exploring Albania’s Efforts to Operationalize the Principle of Responsibility to Protect (R2P),” examined how Albania, as a small state, engages with international norms to prevent mass atrocities, both through its participation in international forums and through national initiatives. Her research highlighted Albania’s contributions and challenges in promoting atrocity prevention and human rights protection.
The conference brought together scholars from 29 countries, providing an inspiring platform for the exchange of knowledge across multiple thematic areas. Dr. Gerdeci’s participation underscored the Department of Law’s commitment to advancing research in international law, human rights, and global governance.
