This Thursday, first- and second-year students from the Department of Civil Engineering will compete in the Truss Competition, organised for the Engineering Mechanics course in collaboration with the Future Engineers Club.
Teams have been working on their truss bridge designs ahead of the event, applying what they have covered in class to a physical model they will build themselves. On the day, each bridge will go through a live structural load test to see how it performs under real force.
Third-year students will be on hand to supervise and support the event.
The competition is open to spectators. Come along to Building A at 09:30 on Thursday to see what the students have built.
