The Center for European Studies at EPOKA University has successfully completed the implementation of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Integration of Western Balkans: Patterns and Issues” (WB-EUPath), funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme. The project represented an important academic and regional initiative dedicated to advancing teaching, research, and public debate on the European integration process of the Western Balkans.

Coordinated by the Center for European Studies and implemented within the framework of the Political Science and International Relations programs at EPOKA University, the module combined theoretical and empirical perspectives on EU enlargement and the dynamics shaping the Western Balkans’ path toward European Union membership. The project introduced innovative teaching methods, interdisciplinary activities, and regional cooperation initiatives involving academics, policymakers, students, and civil society representatives.

Throughout its implementation, WB-EUPath organized a wide range of academic and outreach activities, including graduate seminars, public panels, workshops, awareness seminars, international conferences, a study visit to EU institutions in Brussels, and the development of new courses and educational materials. The project also strengthened cooperation among regional and international scholars and institutions working in the field of European Studies.

Among the major achievements of the module were the introduction of new courses on EU integration and the Western Balkans, the development of a MOOC platform, the publication of educational resources, and the promotion of public dialogue on EU enlargement and democratic transformation in the region. The initiative contributed significantly to enhancing students’ and stakeholders’ understanding of the opportunities and challenges related to the European integration process.

The successful completion of WB-EUPath reaffirms the commitment of the Center for European Studies at EPOKA University to promoting excellence in European Studies, regional cooperation, and academic engagement with key issues affecting the future of the Western Balkans and the European Union.
