EPOKA University was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mirela Alhasani and Dr. Dea Haxhiu, serving as Management Committee members from Albania.  COST Action CA25141 FLARE (Futures Literacy for Anticipatory Societies – Strengthening Foresight Systems Across Europe) is a four-year European research networking initiative designed to strengthen Europe’s collective capacity to anticipate, understand, and respond to uncertainty, complexity, and societal transformation. By bringing together researchers, educators, policymakers, and practitioners from different disciplines and national contexts, the Action seeks to integrate Futures Literacy (FL) into education, governance, and innovation, contributing to more inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking societies. Official COST Action page

Action responds to the growing need for systematic and accessible approaches to futures thinking in a context shaped by technological transformation, global crises, social inequalities, and rapidly changing political and educational environments. Its central ambition is to move beyond fragmented foresight initiatives towards a coherent European framework supported by shared concepts, methodological standards, ethical principles, and indicators for assessing the impact of futures-oriented learning and decision-making

The nomination of EPOKA staff in this European network creates opportunities to contribute to international academic exchange and collaborative initiatives addressing the challenges of rapidly changing and increasingly uncertain societies. Their participation strengthens the University’s engagement in European academic networks and collaborative initiatives focused on foresight, innovation, and building more resilient societies.
