Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arban Uka, the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at EPOKA University, received the Western Balkans-Visegrad Fellowship to strengthen collaboration in research with the group of Professor Jozef Ulicny from Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Slovakia.
The focus of the fellowship was on the use of artificial intelligence techniques in image reconstruction including computational tomography. Both groups have extensive expertise in laser-matter interaction. Groups discussed image acquisition techniques and common efforts in utilizing European X-ray Free Electron Laser (EU XFEL) facilities. Dr. Arban Uka also presented his recent research work conducted at EPOKA University in the framework of International and National projects.
The Western Balkans–Visegrad Fellowships offer funding for individual short-term stays for Visegrad Group countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia). Western Balkans countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Serbia) scholars, lecturers, academic staff, researchers & scientists in two main directions—citizens of V4 countries can apply to relevant host institutions in the Western Balkans (WB6), and citizens of the WB6 region can apply to relevant host institutions in V4 countries.
The program is jointly funded by the Visegrad Fund and the Western Balkans Fund.
