EPOKA University is pleased to announce that a research project led by Dr. Ada Güven has been selected for funding under the National Programme for Research and Development (PKKZHI), supported by the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (AKKSHI/NASRI).
The awarded project, entitled “Climate Justice and State Responsibility: The Challenges of Legal and Institutional Reforms in Albania,” addresses one of today’s most pressing global challenges by examining the relationship between climate change, human rights, and state responsibility.
The research aims to evaluate how Albania’s legal and institutional framework responds to climate-related risks and environmental harm while assessing its alignment with evolving European standards on accountability, environmental protection, and climate justice. By identifying legal and policy gaps and proposing practical reforms, the project seeks to contribute to a more resilient, sustainable, and equitable future for Albania.
The project adopts an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together expertise from environmental law, human rights, criminal law, and public policy to develop evidence-based recommendations for strengthening environmental governance and protecting both people and the environment.
