EPOKA University has further strengthened its international academic partnerships through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between its Faculty of Law and Social Sciences and the European Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at Europa-Universität Flensburg, Germany.
The agreement was signed during an institutional visit to Europa-Universität Flensburg, held from 28 September to 2 October 2026, with the participation of four academic staff members from EPOKA University:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isa Erbas, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences
Dr. Reina Zenelaj, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations
Dr. Jubjana Vila, Head of the Center of European Studies
Dr. Nuton Mulleti, Lecturer in the Department of Law
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for long-term academic and scientific collaboration, focusing on doctoral education, joint research projects, academic mobility, scholarly exchange, and collaborative academic initiatives. Particular emphasis is placed on developing jointly supervised doctoral projects, creating opportunities for doctoral researchers and academic staff from both institutions to engage in interdisciplinary research and international academic networks.
The agreement builds upon existing academic connections between the two institutions and reflects their shared commitment to advancing research, fostering international dialogue, and supporting the next generation of scholars.
Alongside the signing of the agreement, the visit provided opportunities for academic discussions and the exchange of knowledge and experiences. As part of the Interdisciplinary Colloquium series, Dr. Reina Zenelaj delivered a lecture addressing the culture of remembrance, religion, and political culture in Albania. The session brought together academics from both institutions and encouraged interdisciplinary dialogue and the exchange of perspectives.
Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isa Erbas delivered a presentation entitled “Religion in Albania,” highlighting the country's religious landscape and its longstanding tradition of interreligious coexistence.
The visit also provided a platform for discussions on future cooperation in graduate education, research activities, and joint academic programmes, further reinforcing the potential for sustainable collaboration between the two institutions.
The signing of this agreement represents an important milestone in EPOKA University's internationalization efforts, expanding opportunities for doctoral education, academic exchange, and collaborative research while strengthening its institutional presence within European academic networks.
Through partnerships of this nature, EPOKA University continues to promote academic excellence, international engagement, and meaningful cooperation with leading European higher education institutions.
