The Research and Projects Office hosted an impactful event organized by GIZ on January 16th, 2025. The event, titled "Engage as a Diaspora Expert," attracted undergraduate and graduate students eager to explore opportunities for diaspora professionals to contribute to the development of their countries of origin through short-term volunteer assignments.
Discussions focused on key areas such as gender equality, climate protection, and health, inspiring attendees to consider how their skills could make a meaningful difference.
Mrs. Halisa Prifti, Diaspora Engagement Advisor from GIZ Albania, delivered an insightful presentation, explaining how GIZ supports skilled professionals in connecting with local organizations in their home countries.
Attendees learned about GIZ's comprehensive support, which includes financial assistance, travel expense coverage, insurance, and local coordination. Mrs. Prifti emphasized the importance of leveraging these opportunities to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen local capacities, and contribute to sustainable development.
The event highlighted GIZ’s programs for diaspora professionals residing in Germany with recognized vocational training or university degrees. With assignments ranging from two weeks to three months and covering countries like Albania and Kosovo, attendees left inspired to take part in these transformative initiatives.
