On 20 May 2025, the Chairman of the Albanian Competition Authority, Mr. Denar Biba, the deputy chairwoman Ms Ledia Matja and the Director of the Directorate of Surveillance of Productive Markets, Ms. Mimoza Kodhelaj, visited Epoka University.
The delegation of the Albanian Competition Authority was welcomed by the Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Oztas, the Administrator, Dr. Esmir Demaj and the Head of the Department of Law, Dr. Gentjan Skara.
The visit's aim was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. This Memorandum of Understanding aims to further the parties' cooperation, increase free and effective competition, and create opportunities for the training and qualification of students and academic staff in the field of competition.
After signing the Memorandum of Understanding, the Chairman of the Albanian Competition Authority, Mr. Denar Biba, delivered an open forum on "The role of the Competition Authority in Ensuring free and effective Competition in the Market."
Mr. Biba emphasised the importance of competition in a liberalised market and provided an overview of the Albanian competition law, focusing on: i) characteristics of restrictive agreements; ii) abuse of dominant position, and iii) fining procedure.
Epoka University thanks the Chairman of the Competition Authority, Mr. Denar Biba, for his collaboration and looks forward to mutual projects and activities to raise the competition culture.
