On 14 May 2026, the Department of Law at Epoka University, in collaboration with the Albanian Competition Authority, organised a Public Panel on “The Enforcement of EU and Albanian Competition Rules in the Digital Environment: Challenges and Perspectives”.
As digital platforms, algorithms, and data-driven ecosystems continue to reshape the global economy, ensuring fair competition has become a defining challenge for regulators across Europe and beyond.
The panel focused on how both the European Union and Albania are responding to these developments, particularly in light of the EU Digital Markets Act and Albania’s path toward EU integration.
We were honoured to welcome an outstanding panel of experts consisting of PhD Denar Biba, the Chairman of Albanian Competition Authority, Associate Professor Christian Bergqvist from University of Copenhagen; Associate Professor Kalpana Tyagi from Maastricht University and PhD Arletta Gorecka from Glasgow International College.
The discussions highlighted the evolving enforcement architecture of competition law in digital markets, including perspectives from Albania, the EU, Denmark, and the UK.
A sincere thank you to all panellists, participants, colleagues, and students who contributed to such an engaging and thought-provoking exchange. Conversations like these are essential to ensuring that competition law remains fit for the digital age.
This public panel is organised by Associate Professor Gentjan Skara, coordinator of the Module and PhD Candidate Najada Kilic in the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Competition Law and Digital Markets,” co-funded by the EU.
