In a concerted effort to strengthen academic and research ties between Albania and Portugal, Dr. Armando Demaj, Head of the International Relations Office and Head of the Research and Projects Office at EPOKA University, recently conducted a high-level visit to the National Office for Erasmus+ Portugal. This visit served as a pivotal platform for aligning EPOKA University’s strategic objectives with the European mobility and research landscape through direct engagement with Portuguese leadership.
The mission was highlighted by a productive session with Ms. Carla Ruivo, Coordinator of the National Office, and Mr. Pedro Miguel Silva from the Communication Team. During the discussions, Ms. Ruivo provided an in-depth overview of the office’s mission to foster international cooperation and its current priorities within the Erasmus+ framework. Representing both the International Relations and the Research and Projects offices, Dr. Demaj presented EPOKA University’s multifaceted potential, emphasizing its readiness for high-level international credit mobility and its robust framework for collaborative research and innovation.
Building upon this institutional presentation, the dialogue transitioned into a focus on future synergy. The Erasmus+ Office expressed a strong commitment to supporting EPOKA University by intermediating further collaboration with Portuguese Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This strategic support is expected to streamline joint applications and broaden the scope of exchange for students and academic staff, effectively bridging the gap between the two nations’ academic communities.
Beyond the formal proceedings, the visit also emphasized the importance of networking and institutional diplomacy. Dr. Demaj engaged with several other members of the Erasmus+ Portugal team, concluding the day by joining the entire staff for a friendly lunch. This warm reception underscored the shared commitment to the "Erasmus Spirit" of cultural and academic exchange, marking a significant milestone in EPOKA University’s internationalization strategy and opening new doors for research and mobility programs.
