On 4 May 2026, Nerina Baci, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at EPOKA University, represented EPOKA University in the activities of the TNE-DESK Project at the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo.
As part of the course Laboratorio di Costruzione dell’Architettura, taught by Prof. Santina Di Salvo, Baci delivered the seminar entitled:
“Simulation-Assisted Early Design Evaluation of Low-Rise School Building Morphology and Its Impact on Energy Performance in the Climatic Contexts of Southeast Europe.”
The seminar examined the use of building-performance simulation tools during the early stages of architectural design, with particular attention to the relationship between school-building morphology, climatic conditions and energy performance. Different spatial and morphological configurations were discussed to demonstrate how early design decisions can significantly influence the environmental performance of educational buildings.
The activity supported the objectives of the TNE-DESK Project by promoting international academic exchange, digital and simulation-assisted design methods, and the integration of sustainability principles within architectural education and research.
