Tirana, 27 November 2025 – Students from all three year-groups of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Epoka University participated today in the Dialogue Forum: Youth and Transitional Justice in Albania, held at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Tirana.
The event was organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania, bringing together youth, academics, artists, and former political prisoners to discuss the role of the younger generation in addressing the legacy of the communist past.
The forum opened with welcoming remarks by Ambassador Michel Tarran, Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, and Ms. Brunilda Cerraga, representative of the Authority on Information with Former State Security Files. Both emphasized the importance of youth engagement in confronting historical injustices and strengthening democratic culture.
Participants then viewed the animated film “Antimuzeu”, followed by a dynamic discussion led by film director Renis Hyka, exploring how art can serve as a tool for transitional justice and collective memory.
The event continued with reflections and testimony of Mr. Agron Hoxha, former political prisoner in Spaç, shared first-hand experiences of persecution and the long-term importance of truth-telling.
In the end of the first session, Mr. Joni Shtambari, member of the Youth Advisory Group of the OSCE PiA, discussed how young Albanians perceive transitional justice today.
The afternoon session featured a unique Forum Theatre performance, directed by Ms. Anila Balla, where actors and youth collaborated in improvised scenes addressing themes of memory, trauma, justice, and reconciliation. The interactive format encouraged students to reflect on the complexities of transitional justice from multiple perspectives.
The forum concluded with an open discussion, offering students of Epoka University the opportunity to engage directly with practitioners, survivors, and experts.
Today’s participation marked a valuable learning experience for Epoka University students, reinforcing the importance of critical reflection, civic engagement, and the role of youth in shaping a more just and democratic future.
