As part of the Digital Banking and Innovation course under the umbrella of Master's Study program in Fintech offered by the Department of Banking and Finance within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Epoka University, lecturer Chrysanthi Balomenou, together with Teaching Assistant Bjorni Merko, welcomed three distinguished executives from Raiffeisen Bank Albania for a special guest lecture on “Human Resources in the Digital Era: Optimizing Structure and Incentives, Emphasizing Business Outcomes, and Devising a New Strategic Vision for Staff.” The lecture provided Master’s students with valuable insights into how innovation, digital transformation, and organizational culture are reshaping the future of banking and financial services. Elona Llaci, who discussed the evolving global and Albanian banking landscape, the key drivers of banking innovation, and the transition toward digital-first ecosystems. Her presentation explored topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Open Banking, embedded finance, blockchain, digital assets, and customer-centric innovation.
Arlinda Budo, who shared valuable perspectives on Human Resources in the digital era, emphasizing organizational culture, continuous learning, accountability, collaboration, and the strategic importance of empowering talent to drive innovation and business outcomes.
Artemida Alltari, who focused on fintech partnerships, innovation ecosystems, and the role of collaboration between banks and technology partners in transforming customer experiences and creating new business models.
During the session, students explored major trends shaping the banking sector today, including digitalization versus innovation, AI and machine learning in banking, Open Banking and APIs, embedded finance, blockchain technologies, customer experience transformation, innovation culture, and the risks and challenges associated with cybersecurity, regulation, AI ethics, and operational resilience. Students also learned more about Raiffeisen Bank Albania’s vision, mission, innovation culture, and student-oriented initiatives such as the Key Academy program, which connects academic learning with real-world industry experience and employment opportunities. The lecture was highly interactive and inspiring, successfully strengthening the connection between academia and industry while helping students gain a deeper understanding of the rapidly evolving world of digital banking and innovation.
