What? The workshop programme includes two modules: “How to Resolve Conflicts” and “Simulation of United Nations Security Council”. Both workshops will provide interactive experiences to build key skills for tomorrow’s leaders, skills in negotiation, problem-solving, peace-building, and clear, effective communication. Participants will attend both modules.
When? Two separate workshops will be offered on Wednesday, 26 April 2017 and Wednesday, 17 May 2017.
How? The cost of the workshop is covered by Epoka University and is thus free to participants. However, spaces are limited.
Who? The programme is open to all current 2nd and 3rd (and 4th for vocational high schools) year high school students (ages 16-18) from the Tirana area. Different students will be selected for the April session and different students for the May session.
Certificate: All participants will receive certificates for their participation to the workshop.

Schedule: The workshops will be offered from 09:30 to 16:00 hours.
Transport to Epoka campus in Rinas, Tirana: Transport will be provided free of charge to and from Epoka University, with pick-up and drop-off from the centre of Tirana.

Module 1: “How to Resolve Conflicts: A toolkit of 12 Essential Conflict Resolution Skills”

Have you ever had a conflict with someone and wished you could have handled it better? Conflict comes about from differences we have in needs, values, interests and motivations. Conflict is not a problem in itself; it is what we do with it that counts. We cannot avoid conflicts, yet when we try to resolve them, we may find the peacemaking process exhilarating! Thus, are you ready to be part of this unique training and get a toolkit of 12 skills that will help you resolve problems, turn conflicts into opportunities and create more fulfilling relationships?
Module 2: “Simulation of UN Security Council Meeting”

This module offers students the opportunity to build research, problem-solving, and negotiating skills by assuming the role of a representative in the United Nations Security Council. Students will have the opportunity to research the position of a country in the UNSC and negotiate with representatives from other countries to work toward a solution on an important problem in the world. Topics may include resolutions on conflicts in Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Nigeria, or Ukraine, and may also include issues such as the refugee crisis, illicit trafficking, or the control of weapons of mass destruction.
