Introduction

The Doctoral Program in Architecture (ARCH-PhD Program) is the highest level offered by the Department of Architecture. ARCH-PhD Program in Architecture is necessary for the formation of academicians in various fields of research in Architecture. The capability of perception of problems in the field of architectural sciences from different perspectives, the ability to generate different alternative solution to these problems and at the same time to give instruction in these areas by being based on the human sciences, social sciences and the natural ones in order to be able to suggest even interdisciplinary research and the research of this nature, emphasis on principles of research in the fields of architecture as a principle and as direct or indirect application; these and the instruction on diversity of research; approach and methods of use of these architectural research intend the basic purpose of ARCH-PhD Program in Architecture.

The Ph.D. program is a "Doctorate Program with Thesis". During the first year of Ph.D. it requires to complete 8 courses (60 ECTS / 24 American credits) and during next two years thesis work or final dissertation (120 ECTS) should be submitted in total of 180 ECTS. The Ph.D. program will be completed at least in three academic years that will be divided into six terms. Where there are obligatory reasons, this period can be extended to twelve semesters with prior permission and/or acceptance from scientific committee.
