Department of Law Representatives Visit Leiden University of Applied Sciences

Dr. Gentjan Skara, Head of the Department of Law, and Dr. Alba Gerdeci, Lecturer at the Department of Law of Epoka University, conducted an official visit to Leiden University of Applied Sciences (LUAS) from 24–28 November 2025. The visit took place within the framework of the Exchange4All programme, a dynamic initiative designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, intercultural dialogue, and inclusive co-creation among partner institutions.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Carlo Bakker and facilitated with the invaluable support of Ms. Tanja van den Berge and Ms. Lieke Steijger who ensured a rich and engaging academic and cultural experience.

During the five-day visit, Dr. Skara and Dr. Gerdeci participated in a diverse range of activities, including student-centered sessions on human rights and complexity in global environments, social entrepreneurship, international business. These interactive components offered firsthand insight into LUAS’s educational approach, which emphasizes experiential learning and cross-cultural collaboration.

In the area of programme development, the representatives joined discussions on wellbeing, circular practices, vocational training, and continuous professional development. These exchanges opened new avenues for cooperation in curriculum innovation and joint academic initiatives.

A highlight of the visit was the exploration of LUAS’s AI Lab, where participants examined how emerging technologies—particularly generative AI—are reshaping vocational and higher education. The session treated future-oriented teaching methods, digital collaboration models, and the evolving skill sets required in an AI-driven academic landscape. Also Sustainability Office and their initiatives. 

Beyond the formal programme, the visit also included an informal networking dinner with LUAS colleagues and a cultural visit to the Mauritshuis Museum and the Peace Palace in The Hague, home to the International Court of Justice, fostering deeper mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the institutions.

The Department of Law expresses its appreciation to LUAS, and especially to Carlo, Tanja and Lieke, and Tanja, for their excellent coordination, warm hospitality, and forward-looking academic engagement. The visit marks an important step in building long-term collaboration between Epoka University and Leiden University of Applied Sciences, with promising prospects for joint projects, staff exchanges, and enhanced internationalization opportunities.
