The Secretary General of the Assembly of Albania has announced two vacancies for members of the High Judicial Council from among the academic staff of law faculties and the School of Magistrates.
The decision was taken in accordance with Article 147 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and Articles 36, 37, and 39 of Law no. 115/2016 “On the Governance Bodies of the Justice System,” as amended.
The High Judicial Council is a constitutional body that ensures the independence, accountability, and proper functioning of the judicial system. The selection of members from academia is a key process for reinforcing professional and academic integrity within this governing body.
Interested candidates must fulfill a number of legal requirements, including Albanian citizenship, at least 15 years of professional experience as a jurist, and a minimum of 5 years of academic experience in a law faculty or the School of Magistrates. Candidates must also hold the title of Professor or Lecturer and comply with all integrity and eligibility criteria set out in the legislation.
A complete application file must be submitted, including all required documentation such as identification documents, CV, proof of professional experience, self-declarations, and a personal platform.
Within 15 days from the expression of interest, candidates are also required to submit asset declarations and related forms to the competent authorities.
Higher education institutions and the School of Magistrates must initiate the relevant procedures, including calls for applications and candidate verification, within 7 days of the announcement.
All submitted documents must be in Albanian and either originals or notarized copies. Any false declaration will lead to disqualification and legal responsibility.
