From 3–5 December 2025, Dr. Mirela Alhasani (Dubali), Lecturer at the Center for European Studies, EPOKA University, participated in the Management Committee (MC) Meeting and the First General Conference of COST Action CA23105 – PLURILINGMEDIA: Media and Language Vitality, hosted by Working Group 3 at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Warsaw, Poland.
Her research presentation, titled “Shifting Ideologies: Representations of the Albanian Language in Traditional and Digital Media in the Balkans”, examined case studies from Kosova and North Macedonia, focusing on national television channels, minority-language media platforms, and the influence of social media on the status and use of Albanian as both a minority and official language.
The conference featured a rich program of scholarly contributions addressing themes such as social media and language change, media and language education, language ideologies, stigma, and media discourse, with a particular emphasis on marginalized communities across Europe and beyond. As a Management Committee member representing Albania, Dr. Alhasani expressed strong appreciation for the collaborative spirit of the COST Action network and highlighted the potential for future PLURILINGMEDIA events to be hosted in Albania at EPOKA University, further strengthening the university’s role in advancing research and dialogue in media and language studies.
